So, the other day in art...The 5th grade students drew their school.







So, today in art....Student: I am ready for you to teach me now. Me: Its 3:10...I'm leaving.
So, the other day in art...We learned about African style mask and the students created their own.

So, the other day in art: The students studied Pointillism/Georges Seurat and created Self-Portrait Pointillisms.

So, today in art....Me:  So...what do you think of Mrs. Groh?  Student 1:  She is cool. Student 2:  I like her.  Student 3:  I thought she would be older but she looks our age.  Me:  It's cause she's short.
So, today in art....Me:  Any more questions before we get started?  Yes, you.  Student: This is the best room ever!!!!   Me:  That was not a question.  But I will accept it.

So, the other day in art (well, during the Black History Month presentation)...Presenter: So who can tell me what they know about MLK? Student 1: He said the I have a Dream speech. Presenter: Yes yes, good answer. Anyone else? Student 2: He won the noble peace prize. Presenter: Yes. Great answer. Next? Student 3: He was shot watching a play. Presenter: Ummmmm....no. That was President Lincoln ....but they were both fighting for the rights of others, so great correlation. Anyone else? Yes you. You over there in the purple and black. Student 4: I don't know. Presenter: Oh...didn't you raise your hand like 4 times? Yes? Do you just like raising your hand? You know what? Its o k. Next?
So, today in art.....Student 1:  Mr. Smith, can I draw a butterfly?  Me:  You sure can.  Student 1:  Thank God!!!  Thank the Lord!!!  Me:  Bahahahahhaa!!!  You are really thankful for that butterfly. Student 2:  Mr. Smith...you're funny!!!

So, the other day in art...Me:  Will you do me a favor?  Student:  Sure.  Me:  Go call your mom and tell her you were throwing crayons at other students in my room.  Student:  I was not throwing...  Me:  Stop.  I am not going to argue with you because I saw you do it.  Now go call your mother and let her know.  Student:  Hi mom.  Mr. Smith wanted me to call you to tell you I was throwing crayons, but I was....but I did not....but they did...but I......She hung up.  Me:  What do you mean she hung up.  Did you tell her I wanted to talk to her when you were finished.  Student:  I tried...but she hung up.  Me:  Call her back and give me the phone.  Hello, I am Mr. Smith and I am the art teacher.  Your son was on the phone with you and somehow you got disconnected.  Mother:  Oh, I did not get disconnected...I hung up.  Me:  Oh...Ok.  Do you mind if I ask why?  Mother:  Because I am putting on my shoes.  I will be there in 5 mins.  I told that boy after the last time I got a phone call that I was not playing with.  I am on my way.
