So, today in art(Well, at the Imagination Station)...The Vollis Simpson Whirligig Education Committee in conjunction with the Arts Council of Wilson, and the Imagination Station hosted a Create Your Own Whirligig Event for kids today. 



So, today in art...Third graders learned how to spell their names using sign language.

So,today in art (well, at the NC Art Museum)...Me:  Why are you sitting alone?  Student:  Because I have no friends.  Me:  Well...you've got one.  Student:  Thanks.  Me:  And I'm the most popular kid in school.

So, today in art (Well, at the NC Museum of Art)...I would like to thank the teachers and parents that came to the Museum with us today. I would also like to thank my students for being awesome human beings that impress others with their kindness, intelligence, and willingness to learn.





So, today in art (Well, at the NC Museum of Art)...Docent (tour guide): Your students are awesome, they took notes, they asked questions, they answered questions, and they were so well behaved. Please come back. Me: Thank you. They are awesome.
So, today in art (well, at the NC Museum of Art)...Me: Back up, back up. Don't touch that. Back up. No no no no no. Back up! Do you see that man looking at us? He is security! Back up!!!
So, today in art (well, at the NC Museum of Art) Student: OMG!!! This bathroom is awesome. Student 2: Wow...it is!!!! Student 3: If the the bathroom is this great I can not wait to see the rest of the museum. (Mind you, we have not even started the tour yet.)

So, the other day in art...Student (writing a letter) Dear President Obama, my art teacher is so mean.   Me:  Ummmmm....so what are you writing?  Student:  Nothing.  Me:  Ummmm...you know I can see your paper right?  Student:  Yes.  Me:  Then...what are you writing.  Student:  Well, I was telling the President how mean you use to be but I am getting ready to tell him how great you are.  Me:  Ummmm....but what should you be doing?  Student:  My class work.  Me:  Thank you.
So, today in art...Student:  My sister calls me Mr. Smith cause I can draw so good.  Me:  That is awesome!  Student:  Yeah...she is jealous of me.  Me: Ugghhh!!!  I know that one.  People are jealous of me too.

So, today in art (Full Moon edition)...Student 1:  You mean like an alligator turtle.  Me:  No.  I mean like a Sea turtle.  Student 2:  There is no such thing as a alligator turtle.  Student 1:  Then what is that turtle that snaps at you?  Me:  A snapping turtle.  Student 1:  Oh...that makes more sense. 
So, today in art (Full Moon edition)...Student: Mr. Smith...I need to go home and feed my dog. Me: I thought your dog died. Student: No. He is in Mexico. Me: What is he doing in Mexico. Student: Dying. Me: Oh no...how? Student: I don't know...I am here coloring with you.
So, today in art...Warning Warning!!!! This is not a drill. It is a FULL MOON!!!!!!!
So, the other day in art (well, the Arts Council of Wilson)...We had a great time at the Wilson County Elementary Collaborative Art show. Eight of your schools were represented. I would like to thank all the art teachers that were involved. You all did an great job. And thank you all who came out to support our students!!!

So, today in art...Student:  Mr. Smith, I love you.  Me:  What?  Student:  Ooops!  I said something I should not have said.  I said I love you but I don't even know you that well.  Me:  Its ok.  I love you too.  Student:  He he he he he heeeee he he...I love you.  Ooops!  I did it again.
So, today in art...Student:  Look...I made a symmetry.  She drew a tree and wrote samotree on it.
So, today in art...Student.  I can spell can.  Other teacher:  You can?  Spell it.  Student:  C-A-H---H.
So, today in art...Student: Hey hey hey hey hey Mr. Smith hey hey hey hey. Mr. Smith Mr. Smith. Hey Hey hey hey. Me: What?!?!? Student: I forgot.
So, today in art...Student:  All the kids in my class were throwing books at me.  Me:  Why?  I don't know.  Johna Kite:  Why are you telling Mr. Smith?  Me:  So she can be in So, today in art.  You know I am gonna put this in there.  Johna Kite:  Did you tell your teacher.  Student:  I telled her.
