This blog is a compilation of conversations between my students, other teachers, the parents and I. My purpose is to illustrate the importance of art education in my local community. The arts allow the children’s spirit of their imaginations to soar and creates a deeper understanding of the world around them.

So, today in art....Student 1: Can't you read Mr. Smith? Me: No. You have found out my secret. I am illiterate. Student 2: You have to know how to read. You're a teacher. Me: I teach art. All I need to know how to do is draw. Student 3: That makes sense. Student 2: It's ok. Just rub hands across this picture and read it. Me: Bhahahahaha...I am not blind. I can see the words, I just can't read them.
